Make your own mineral veil
A while back I ordered a bunch of ingredients to start making my own makeup.
Most all of the ingredients I needed I had never heard of before and couldn’t even pronounce.
Which is why I was a little shocked when I read through the formula for translucent face powder.
Not only were they ingredients I recognized, they’re cheap and in almost every household already.
I was skeptical. So I went to the best selling translucent face powder (bareEscentuals Mineral Veil) and I looked for myself.
So before you go out to replace your powder next time…
I suggest you go to your pantry instead and follow this recipe:
Recipe/Formula:
1 1/2 Tablespoons Cornstarch
1/8 Teaspoon Powder Foundation *Optional (this just adds a touch of color for a little extra coverage otherwise it will just go on translucent)
Directions:
Stir all ingredients together and store in a used (and washed) powder container or a mint tin.
And since this recipe will cost you all of about 5 cents you’ll have $19.95 left over to:

10/06/2012 at 6:39 pm (342 days ago)This is so awesome! I was running low on my face powder. I have two huge tubs of cornstarch in my cupboard. I added some to my powder, and it works! Thank you for this great money saving idea.

24/07/2012 at 2:22 am (298 days ago)Be careful using Cinnamon in facial products, some skin type will swell up or even break out in hives! Always make sure you skin is nonreactive before using something like that.
I’ve seen lots of “cinnamon oatmeal” facials gone terribly wrong!

21/07/2012 at 9:32 am (301 days ago)Do not add cinnamon!
It’s a spice, and it’s spicy. Do you want spicy stuff on your face? It will irritate your skin.

23/11/2012 at 3:07 pm (176 days ago)Cinnamon powder can cause severe skin irritation to some individual. I highly recommend that it is first tested on a small part of your skin. Yes, it is a spice. Another alternative to cinnamon is organic “unsweetened cocoa powder” . Good luck all !!!!

22/07/2012 at 11:21 pm (299 days ago)Magnesium and Zinc Stearate aren’t just fillers. They improve slip (how well the product applies), adhesion (how long it stays on the skin), and the texture of a finishing powder/foundation. If corn starch on it’s own works well for you, that’s great. I tried and found it a little cakey, hard to buff over my foundation, and it didn’t really last very long before I had to touch up again.

27/10/2012 at 10:27 am (203 days ago)I am going to try this myself, but instead of applying this with a sponge or facial cloth, I am going to try a facial brush. This is what I use everyday to apply my facial powder. It seems to give me an even coverage without blotting… and the product lasts a lot longer!

27/10/2012 at 12:32 pm (203 days ago)Hello i have a bareMineral try it buy it kit i ran out and was so sad the thought of sheeling out another 20 bucks when only the tinted mineral veil was all i wanted ( i have super fair skin the light skin colors were way to dark o.o anyway my mother saw this ( i used Bare Minerals on her and others for a wedding shes allergic to a lot but didnt have any reaction so yay) so i had to try it heres what i did
i added cornstarch to the other light tubs in the kit ( they were past halfway gone) it was like a 18 of a tsp that i added at a time till i thought the color was right for the veil i added a little bit of the Bare Mineral foundation Matte in this case and then added cornstarch bit by bit till it look the right shade
i took pictures of the first time i applied Bare Minerals and i took a picture with the cornstarch tip there is No difference at all! try it! what have you got to lose beside a little cornstarch
